Medicare reports operations that are funded via MBS. These data can be used to provide an insight into current inpatient activity. In essence, these are nearly all private hospital operations and chargeable operations in public hospitals (non-chargeable work in public hospitals is funded by direct grants from the Commonwealth to State Health Authorities).
